About Nysa

Built from lived experience. Focused on better visits.

Nysa is a neurodivergent-led sensory accessibility consultancy helping organisations make unfamiliar places easier to understand before a visitor arrives.

It was founded from lived experience of autism, sensory overwhelm and the uncertainty that unclear visitor information can create.

Our approach

Evidence-informed accessibility shaped by real visitor experiences.

Our work combines lived experience, sensory insight, accessibility guidance and digital tools to reduce uncertainty and help people access venues with greater confidence.

01

Lived experience insight

Built from first-hand understanding of sensory challenges, visitor uncertainty and accessibility barriers.

02

Environmental assessment

Structured observation, environmental measurements and journey mapping help us understand how a venue may be experienced.

03

Practical recommendations

Findings become realistic opportunities to improve confidence, predictability and inclusion.

04

Visitor confidence

Every assessment and resource is designed to help visitors understand what to expect before arrival.

Why Nysa exists

Accessibility should begin long before a visitor arrives.

When information is unclear, an unfamiliar venue can feel unpredictable. Sensory information, visual guidance and practical accessibility resources allow people to plan in a way that works for them.

By making the visitor journey easier to understand, organisations can create more predictable, welcoming experiences for everyone.

Clear information can help visitors:

  • understand the venue and its sensory environment
  • identify useful facilities and available support
  • prepare for unfamiliar routes and spaces
  • make informed decisions before travelling
  • arrive with greater familiarity and confidence

A consistent methodology

The Nysa Sensory 360 Framework.

The Framework helps organisations better understand how visitors may experience their environment. It combines lived experience, structured observation, environmental measurements and visitor journey mapping.

It underpins every Nysa assessment, guide, sensory map, virtual tour and digital venue profile.

Why the name Nysa?

A name inspired by sanctuary, growth and protection.

In Greek mythology, Nysa is described as a place of sanctuary and protection. Those ideas reflect our aim to help make environments feel clearer, calmer and more welcoming.

Our vision

Where everyone belongs.

We want a future where clear sensory and accessibility information is as expected as opening times, directions and ticket information—helping every visitor understand what to expect before they arrive.
